Halloween Fun

I love Halloween and I love dressing up. My mom's birthday is right around Halloween and it is her favorite holiday. She always made a big deal about it growing up. Recently Derek and I have begun to discuss our Halloween costumes in August. My husband Drew thinks we are crazy but he is always a good sport about dressing up. These are a few of the costumes we have done in the past.

Derek's first Halloween. We were clowns.

This year I was a princess, Drew a king and Derek a dragon.

Last year we went as Star Wars characters. I was princess Leia, Drew Han Solo, Derek was Anakin and Owen was Chewy.

This year after much discussion we finally settled on characters from Toy Story 2. Owen was Woody, Derek was Buzz, I was Jessie and Drew was Stinky Pete.

We had a ward Halloween Carnival and Trunk or Treat. It was so much fun. They had a dinner, booths for the kids, a costume contest, and a Michael Jackson Thriller performance by the youth. The party finished up with Trunk or Treat. It was so much fun!

My mom loves Halloween so much that this year she wanted to be here for Halloween. We had a great time with her here.

It was so much fun. I kind of get sad when it is all over. It doesn't last long because I know Christmas is just around the corner.

Meg, you are so fun and creative. I love that you have a family 'theme' each year. Very cool. Glad your mom got to be there with you. Happy holiday season!

Hey, the broccoli soup recipe is posted on our family recipe blog. It's not at the top anymore, but they are filed by category so it shouldn't be hard to find. Yummm.

So love the themed family costumes!! I need to do that, if my kids will still let me! The church party looked like a blast!!! Ours was too. And how fun to have your mom to share it all with!

I love family theme Halloweens! So cool. My mom's birthday is the day before Halloween. Her joke that we heard all growing up was, "I was born 10 minutes before Halloween, that's why I'm such a witch."

Seeing those pictures from the past brought back some good memories. We didn't dress up this year but you have inspired me to do so next year.

LOVED the costumes! You guys look so cute. Drew as Stinky Pete is perfect. And you look great as Jessie. Really you out did yourself!

Such cute costumes. I wish I could convince my kids to do themed costumes, I tried really hard this year, but it just wouldn't fly. The girls insisted on being fairy's, I know my husband and son wouldn't have fallen for that.

We do love Halloween, like Wendi said, with a mom who has a birthday the day before, you cannot help but grow up loving the holiday.

I am impressed with the family theme. We have never done that and I am thinking my kids are too old to go for it. But what cute photos!

You people and your fabulous costumes! What a Halloween loser I am! I'm not even going to tell you how long it's been since I dressed up!

Great pictures and fabulous creativity! Go mom!

You guys are adorable! I wish I could get my hubby to dress up. He just hates it. I don't get it. I mean I just love anything that has to do with a party...and whether Halloween, Christmas, or Easter, getting dressed up for it is the best part!

You guys look so great! How do you find all these fun costumes? I've never been much for dressing up at all, especially since being married, but it might be fun to do a family theme sometime.

Glad your mom was there, too. That is so fun!
