Movie Night- A new family tradition

Well, it didn't start out to become a family tradition but now after many months I think I can call it a family tradition. Every weekend usually Sunday or Saturday night we have been having movie night at our home. It might sound funny but it has really been fun and brought us closer together. We usually make movie popcorn (on the stove) and low-fat fruit shakes and then pick a favorite movie to watch (something kid friendly of course). Then we go upstairs and cuddle under our blankets altogether and watch the show. It has been so fun.

This is Drew making the popcorn and our low-fat peach shakes! Yum!!

Well this weekend we watched Peter Pan the original Walt Disney Version. I'm not a huge Peter Pan fan but Derek and Owen really seemed to like the whole lost boys & Captian Hook story line. I much prefer Little Mermaid but in a house full of boys I rarely get to choose the girly movies!

What is your favorite Movie to watch as a family?

Oh my gosh, they are so cute all sitting there on the couch. Owen is so big! It's amazing. What a fun time! I love it!

Okay, first of all, this is the SECOND picture of your husband in the kitchen . . .I have a feeling that he does a lot of the cooking! Lucky you! Your kitchen looks beautiful, love the white cabinets.

That is SO great, Megan! Chip's family did this every Friday growing up- they called it pizza night. His mom made pizza and they always watched a movie together. It is something they still love to come home and do!

That is great Megan! I love our family movie night. We do it on either Friday or Saturday night and the boys really LOVE it. Our favorite movie is anything with action. LIke you I rarely get to choose the girlie cartoons.

Holy cow! Is he making popcorn over the stove! How very fancy!

We do a similar tradition--the kids call it movie theater. Thanks for the reminder--I definitely need to make sure to blog about it sometime. It's a great memory.

Looks like your family is having a great time!

It sounds like so much fun! We used to do the same thing, but it has gone by the wayside. Now that dh's schedule is changing again I'm going to start it back up. Thanks for blogging about this! The pics are all so cute!

Girl! Morgan and I do movie night a couple of times a week if it's not too busy. Some of the best down time ever. Though we are too grownup for Disney lately - Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and that sort of thing rule now. Hope you keep it up!!!!

I added the link under popcorn on the stove (on my post) to the whirly-popcorn popper. We use it and it makes the best popcorn ever!

We just purchased Peter Pan a few weeks ago and the K-Man loves it. Well, I think he loves that he gets to sit in front of the TV for a very long time! Ha!

It is really fun to watch him get excited about "movies" that I enjoyed.

We should really start a movie night! The K-man is getting old enough he is able to say up a bit longer without crashing throught the middle of it.

Family movie nights are so much fun! We do ours on Thursday night (as I work weekend nights) and it really is a great time for all of us. We sometimes alternate with family game night too. Our favorite movies? Action/adventure; the boys and Dad really don't go for the girlie movies even though I still vote for them; they out vote me 3-1 (LOL). The pics of your family are great!

Guess What! Even my boys love Princess Bride. It is a classic at our house and we also like Willow. It is fun that we can sometimes watch non-animated movies.
